Where does my £3 go?

£1 goes into The One Fund. This directly funds innovation and regeneration projects in the UK, that we as a community vote on. The remaining £2 is used to fund our work and the growth of our community:

  1. Research on the actions; scouting, due diligence and management of the projects to be funded; discerning the key issues to get our voice behind.

  2. Marketing, PR and tech development required to reach our mission target of 100,000 members by Dec 2022.

  3. Operational costs including payment processing, tech and professional services fees

As the size of the community grows, the ratio of our costs gets smaller and an ever-increasing proportion beyond the initial £1 is directed to The One Fund. The ambition and expectation is that at 100,000 people, The One Fund would be over £2m annually.

Will it actually make any difference to climate change?

40% of UK emissions come from households, this can’t be done without us. Plus never underestimate our massive collective power. Whilst the weekly actions may seem insignificant, everything changes when there’s lots of us doing them. Governments and businesses need to keep their voters and customers happy. We need to show them what we want more of and what we're no longer tolerating. It’s not limited to our buying power and personal lifestyles. 100,000 people signing a petition guarantees a Parliamentary debate or a response from a CEO. 100,000 people investing in The One Fund will mean an annual pot of over £1.2m to fund brilliant projects. It’s big.

Are you a registered charity?

No. We are a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) set up to serve a community mission. It enables us to be agile as we grow at pace beyond the constrictions of being a charity, but with similar safeguards. We operate under an Asset Lock which requires that our assets, in the event of dissolution, go to a charity or another non-profit. Should this happen, we have chosen Friends Of The Earth UK to be the recipient, as they are aligned to our mission. Our legal constitution document (called Articles of Association) determine how the business must be run, even it were to change to hands, setting out that any profits must only be used to further the mission. You can read these at Companies House. We are fully transparent - feel free to ask us anything.

I’m super busy, what do the weekly actions involve?

You get one email, with the 2 minute lowdown every Friday. It's simple, meaningful stuff that makes a big difference. A habit, a swap, a nugget, a stance...you're not 'doing' things all the time and even when you are, it's usually quick. We dive into the areas where we can make the biggest difference. Here’s a directory of some of the actions so far, to give you the idea. You might find you’re doing some already and that’s great!

Why did you set up Every One of Us?

When we woke up to the climate emergency, our lives turned instantly upside down. We felt so overwhelmed and insignificant in the face of it, that we doubted whether anything we do, could actually make a difference. As busy people ourselves, we know how hectic life can be, with barely any headspace to even think about it. But we absolutely had to do something. So, we set out to slay the idea that we’re powerless and can’t make a difference. Our mission is to make it easy for every one of us, no matter how busy we are, to be able to join the fight for our precious world.
